RICHMOND, VA. — Vote Mama, the nation’s first PAC focused solely on electing, supporting, and mentoring Democratic moms, today announced new endorsements in four key races in Virginia:

• Joy Powers — Virginia House of Delegates, HD-51
• Stephanie Morales — Commonwealth’s Attorney, City of Portsmouth
• Dr. Amanda Quillin — Chesapeake School Board, At-large
• April Chandler — Loudoun County Public Schools, Algonkian District

With these new endorsements, Vote Mama PAC has now endorsed 23 Democratic moms running for the Virginia House of Delegates, as well as Abigail Spanberger to be the first woman and mom to serve as governor. Democrats have the opportunity to create the commonwealth’s first-ever mom-led trifecta, but a slim majority in the House of Delegates means every seat will be critical.

Solution

“Virginia is a national bellwether; all eyes will be watching this November to see if the Commonwealth continues swinging right following last year’s presidential election,” said Liuba Grechen Shirley, founder and CEO of Vote Mama PAC. “The stakes are high, but with moms leading the way, there’s a historic opportunity to elect Virginia’s first woman governor. With the governor making history and a network of moms in both chambers of the General Assembly, the state could have its first mom-led government trifecta. In addition to the House of Delegates and governor endorsements, Vote Mama PAC is also supporting three local candidates across the Commonwealth.

Background

Problem

Vote Mama is the first PAC in the country dedicated to increasing the political power of Democratic moms. Vote Mama PAC supports candidates who are balancing caregiving and running for office through endorsements, direct financial support, coaching, mentorship, campaign guidance, and building the mamas network. Since launching in 2019, Vote Mama PAC has endorsed more than 600 Democratic moms running in over 800 races across the country. In the 2024 elections, Vote Mama PAC-endorsed candidates achieved a 70% win rate.
